Following the success of Takedown Grand Prix, Banter Media are now delighted to announce the release of the Grand Prix DVD. The DVD contains all fights from the 4 cages of the prelim fights, as well as all the action from the 4 weight classes of the Grand Prix events.

TAKEDOWN GRAND PRIX 2011 will be taking place on 31st July.
The Takedown Grand Prix is the biggest Amateur MMA event in Europe. 4 cages offering the very best of MMA talent from across the world. The prelim fight card is run the same as we run our Takedown live series of Tournaments. As such, this aspect of the event is open to any fighter from any gym. The main event is 4 x 8 man Grand Prix Tournaments. 4 weight divisions are contested to find the Takedown Grand Prix Champion of each year. This part of the event is restricted to 6 fighters/gyms who have qualified via the Takedown Live series with 2 fighters/gyms coming in the form of wild card entries chosen directly by the organisers. The Grand Prix will be contested under the intermediate rule set. Sanctioned by the Mixed Martial Arts Amateur Association (MMAAA), the event offer a comprehensive structure of levels for both first time competitors and elite amateurs. The safety of each fighter at any of the amateur levels contested remains of paramount importance and as such the tournament follows all conditions set by the MMAAA and used in the Live series. These include but are not restricted to;
Fighters matched by weight, age, Fight records (in MMA or any other combat discipline) and time spent training (in MMA or any other combat discipline)
Referees trained and briefed to err on the side of caution and stop bouts earlier than in semi pro or pro fights
Mandatory equipment to be worn each fighter includes gum shield, groin guard, approved 4 oz MMA gloves and approved shin/instep protectors

Each Grand Prix winner will receive a £250 prize money cheque for their gym and an assortment of equipment, supplements and clothing provided by the sponsors for themselves.
Each gym supporting the Takedown Grand Prix with fighters will receive a percentage of the ticket sales back to reinvest how they see fit into their own facility.
All participants receive a commemorative medal. Grand Prix winners will receive a large trophy and Takedown Championship Belt
